Fear of Exams

The SAT, LSAT, ACT, MCAT, GRE, TOEFL and similar tests can loom as fearsome obstacles to students competing for acceptance to the schools of their choice. Fortunately, there is a remarkably successful technique to help overcome fear of exams. Hypnotherapy can reprogram your subconscious to replace anxieties and worries and detrimental study habits with new feelings of confidence, cues to teach you to relax and concentrate, and a winning attitude that will triumph over fear of failure.

Here's how hypnosis, as performed by a trained hypnotherapist, works. Success or failure is rooted in the image we have of ourselves. Simply stated, when your self-esteem is low, your chance of success, be it on an exam or any other of life's challenges, is affected detrimentally. The major cause of poor self-esteem is past negative programming. For example, your father asks you if you did your homework, and you answer No. Your father says, "You are the laziest kid I know," which is an indictment that you inherit... you start to believe in your father's judgment, "you're lazy." The hypnotherapist, using hypnotic induction, guides you to rid yourself of past negative programming, replacing the fear of failure with self-acceptance and confidence, thus changing your perspective on your relationship to the problem, in this case, studying and fear of exams.

Under hypnosis, several specific actions are encouraged to overcome poor study habits, improve memory, and defuse fear. The result is a positive approach to learning and toward the test for which you are studying. Your negativity is replaced with an affirmative attitude, your subconscious is purged of detrimental behavior and reprogrammed with successful habits and procedures, and the feelings that you are on a tiring, tortuous uphill battle are replaced by a confidence in your abilities and intelligence.

After hypnosis, your approach to the SAT or LSAT exam is radically altered. The judgment you inherited from your father - in the example above, "you are lazy" - has been revealed and disavowed, enabling you to give up the negative mindset that was a precursor to failure.

You have the power within you to change the way you live your life. There is no reason to quake in your boots about an approaching exam. As the National Institutes of Health have chronicled and as thousands before you already have experienced, hypnosis can help you overcome fear of exams and enable you to achieve the test score you are capable of attaining.
